UNIFORMS- Parents, Plainview is a uniform school.  Monday through Thursday, students must wear a solid navy or burgundy top, solid black or navy bottoms.  Solid Blue or black jeans are ok.  No designs on the tops or bottoms.

You can purchase tops from the office that have our logo embroider on them.

STUDENT SAFETY – Parents, DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND DO NOT DOUBLE PARK TO DROP OFF YOUR CHILD.  This is very dangerous, and someone could get hurt.  Also, pay attention and drive slowly in front of the school.  Some of our students are small and quick and may dart out into the street.  Please, do not use the school driveways to turn around and do not park in the staff lot.  We must all work together to keep ALL the children safe.

CONSIDERATION OF OUR NEIGHBORS – When you are dropping off or picking up your child on Plainview Avenue, please do not block the neighbors’ driveways east of the front of the school.  The neighbors have made it very clear that they will call Parking Enforcement to alleviate the problem.  Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

EMERGENCIES - In anticipation of a natural disaster or emergency, the district has implemented a district communication system thru its TV station, KLCS-TV (channel 58) (channel 15 in Tujunga).  During a district wide emergency, KLCS will be an additional information source for parents.

Both home and school need to have well established plans in case of emergencies like fire, flood or earthquake.  Plainview has emergency plans in place.

In the event of a major earthquake, or fire, the children will remain on the yard until an adult, who is listed on their school emergency card signs for their release.  We also have a “Lockdown Procedure”, which keeps children and staff indoors and out of harm’s way, until it is safe to be outside.  PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD’S EMERGENCY CARD UP TO DATE WITH PHONE NUMBERS AND AUTHORIZED PEOPLE WHO CAN PICK THEM UP.  REMEMBER THAT DURING AN EMERGENCY, YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR CHILD AT THE BACK GATE ON JAYSEEL STREET.

If you do not have emergency plans for your home, please make some.  You should practice fire drills and earthquake drills.  In your plans be sure to have arrangements with an adult to pick up your child or children if you work a great distance from home or have limited transportation.  Remember, the phones may not be in use, freeways and streets might be blocked, and it may take you sometime to get home.

VANDALISM- Vandalism is a major concern in our school district.  Here at Plainview, we have been fortunate for only a few incidents have occurred.  If you see any disturbances during the hours we are closed, please call school POLICE (213) 625-6631.

Keeping our school safe is everyone's responsibility.  PLEASE HELP!!!

ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT- Please send a note when your child is absent and only keep children home from school for illness.  When students are not in school, they must make up missed class work.  Children with good attendance tend to perform better in school.  The District’s goal is no more than 7 absences for the entire school year in order to reach 96% attendance.  Perfect attendance is rewarded by awards, by treats, by prizes, certificates, and raffles.
